Snowboard Exam Format Changes
by Ben Daniel, NRM Snowboard Chair
This season, AASI-NRM moved to a three-day prep format with a modular two-day exam.
We made these changes to help create the most valuable experiences for all who participate.
Three days of prep allows the group to make some positive changes in their riding, teaching, and people skills with enough time to make them more permanent.
The feedback from the participants and examiners was focussed on how benificial and helpful it was to have an extra day.
Most felt real changes that were consistent in their riding on day three and that there was a high degree of clarification in teaching strategies,
movement analysis (MA), and development of people skills.
The two-day exams are now modular. One day will be focused on riding with MA based in cause-and-effect relationships.
The other day, attention will be on teaching and looking at taking MA further to developing evaluation and prescription for change.
These days stand alone, so if you pass teaching, you do not need to take that day again for up to two seasons or vice versa.
You could just do one day and wait to take the other if you'd like. This move to modular is based on feedback from our membership,
to make it more affordable and helpful.
We look forward to seeing you this season and appreciate your feedback!
