PSIA-AASI NRM Freestyle
The NRM Iron Team (Freestyle Education Staff) continues to travel throughout the division providing coaching and assessment-based certificates to NRM members and member schools. The Iron Team is made up of NRM’s top Freestyle Educators and has a mission to maximize fun and safety while giving members a chance to improve as freestyle professionals.
A unique event held annually by the Iron Team is ProPark, sponsored by MSAA and hosted at Great Divide near Helena, MT. This free event is an opportunity for snowsports instructors, freestyle coaches, and local shop pros to collaborate, network, and progress their skills in a minimal intimidation environment, as Great Divide is open only for event participants.
Freestyle Specialist National Standards PSIA-AASI recognizes three levels of freestyle specialty: Freestyle Specialist 1 (FS1), Freestyle Specialist 2 (FS2) and Freestyle Specialist 3 (FS3). NRM proudly provides these three certificates to our members. Success is based on the individual’s attainment and application of discipline specific skill ability, educational expertise and experience related to teaching freestyle to the general public. Requirements to participate in the FS1, FS2, and FS3 events are level one certification in alpine, snowboard or nordic and current membership dues. Progression through the program entails attaining each level. All levels in the program have a workbook to be completed and a two-day on-snow event in combined clinic/exam format. Workbooks must be completed two weeks prior to the event and mailed/emailed to the NRM office or Freestyle Chair for scoring. Check out the event calendar to find the next Freestyle Specialist event.
